Currently Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Head of Department of Medicine, University of Otago, Wellington.  Chair of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (2002-2004).  Chair of the Cardiac Care Strategic Advisory Group and Board Member, New Zealand Heart Foundation (from 2009). Member of the New Zealand Guidelines Group Committee developing guidelines on the Assessment and Management of Cardiovascular Risk.
